Kathleen and Matt Mayes set out to create a company that creates all natural foods that are healthy, convenient, and affordable. Focusing on breakfast, the Mayes' created a company that packages the highest quality oats using state of the art equipment, local sourcing, best in class R&D with the highest QA standards.  

Focusing on getting closer to the customer, the Mayes successfully farmed and packaged oats in Texas. They commissioned Texas A&M University, and together with some local farmers, created a locally sourced rolled oat — farmed and packaged in Texas for Texans.

Matt Mayes


Matt has served as President of MAGI Foods since 2012 and has held key senior level positions with companies in the food manufacturing industry for both branded and private label business since 2009. Prior to that, Matt worked for HEB from 2000—2009 where he held a director level position in grocery procurement. Matt holds an MBA in finance and MA in Accounting from St. Mary’s University and BA from University of Texas at Austin. Matt resides in San Antonio and is married with 2 daughters. He enjoys spending time with his girls and racing his bicycle.

In July 2007, together with her husband, Matt Mayes, Kathleen and Matt launched MaGi Foods LLC. Since inception, MaGi Foods has operated its food manufacturing headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. Kathleen is the integral “Chief Taste Officer,” the passion behind all its recipes, safety, quality programs, and training programs.

Born and raised overseas, Kathleen spent her childhood traveling and living abroad with her family until high school. Kathleen attended and graduated from Saint Mary’s Hall in San Antonio, Texas. In 1994 Kathleen graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in History. In 1997 Kathleen completed her MBA in Finance from Saint Mary’s University. For the next 10 years, Kathleen worked for RG Barry Corporation as a Corporate Planner, and for SBC as a Finance Area Manager.

Kathleen and Matt Mayes have been married for the past 18 years and are the proud parents of Jamie and Abbey.

Roger Davidson is widely recognized by retailers and the financial community as a leading authority on the food and supermarket industries, having culled 30 years of experience working for a diverse group of companies that include Walmart Stores Inc., H.E.B. Food/Drug, SUPERVALU, Wild Oats, and Ahold USA.

As President of his own advisory firm, Oakton Advisory Group, he currently counsels over 300 clients, ranging from retailers to investment managers in the US and Europe, on strategic acquisitions, product development, private label, marketing, merchandising and supply chain efficiencies.  

Roger holds a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin. He and his family currently reside in Oakton, Virginia

Ana smelley


Ana Smelley serves as MaGi’s Controller through the company’s outsourced relationship with Venturity Financial Partners.  She has worked closely with MaGi since 2015 and specifically in the Controller role since 2016. Ana joined Venturity in 2009, starting her career in the Shared Services Department where she oversaw all aspects of accounts payable and payment processing for Venturity’s clients. She moved to the general ledger team in 2010 and was promoted to Controller in 2016 where she is responsible for managing the team that executes MaGi’s accounting function. As MaGi’s Controller, Ana utilizes her manufacturing industry experiences to execute on her accounting responsibilities that include overseeing and supporting transaction processing, month end close, and all aspects of financial reporting. She also serves as the liaison to the company’s CPA firm on tax matters.  Ana obtained a BBA in Finance from Oklahoma State University. She currently resides in Carrollton, Texas with her husband, toddler son and two pups. In her free time, Ana enjoys spending time with family, running, snow skiing and CrossFit.

Lisa andrade

Finance Officer / Manager

Lisa has worked for MAGI Foods as their Finance/Office Manager since 2012.  Lisa is instrumental in the daily activities all related to Finance; AR, AP, Cash Management, Inventory Management, Purchase Order Management, Production Builds, Sales Order Management, and Monthly Bank Reconciliation.  She also manages production hours, new hire paperwork, and various office activities. Lisa is married with a son and daughter and has two grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her husband and is active in her community.

Maintenance Manager

Julio has been with MAGI Foods since 2011. Prior to MAGI, he worked as the Assistant Manager for Diversified Food for 25 years. Julio oversaw the production, blending & packaging of over 250 different recipes. He is married with three kids and resides in San Antonio.  He enjoys watching sports and cooking for his family on the weekends.

Loretta Muenchow

Quality Assurance Manager

Loretta recently joined MAGI Foods as their Quality Assurance Manager in 2017. Loretta is the HACCP Team Leader and is PCQI Certified. She is responsible for keeping the company in compliance with regulations, codes, and standards of the food industry. Loretta was born and raised in St. Hedwig, Texas. Before joining MAGI Foods, Loretta spent 14 years in the meat processing industry. She has worked for several USDA inspected meat processing facilities in the South Central Texas area.

Loretta received a B.S. in Dairy Science and a B.S. in Animal Science from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. She currently resides in Converse, Texas.

Operations Manager

Ray was recruited by MAGI Foods as the Operations Manager. Ray exhibits over 30 years of experience in large corporations such HEB Grocery Company, Sara Lee, Dawn Foods-Global Company and Rochester Midland Chemical-Sales who strive to establish a World Class Operations. These companies allowed Ray to work with automated systems in food manufacturing sister plants in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, California, New Mexico, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Ray has extensive experience in the Meat Industry, Milk and Culture Industry, Bakery Industry, and Warehouse Operations such Grocery, General Merchandise, and Perishables Operations. Ray was born in Madisonville, Texas and relocated back to San Antonio.

The key components to Ray’s leadership is coaching, mentoring, and teaching individuals which his 3 children who received sports scholarships at St. Mary’s University, Cisco Junior College, and the United States NAVAL ACADEMY. Accredited Business Administration courses in college and  Food Industry certifications in the area of FDA, AIB, USDA, SQF, BRC, and Customer audits.

Janet Woltman-Anderson

Quality Assurance & RD Director

Janet has 27 years of experience in the food industry, including 5 years of manufacturing technical support with Pace Foods and 12 years with HEB Grocery Company in private label quality assurance and product development. She is currently the President of JWA Food Quality Consulting, Inc., a firm specializing in food safety, GFSI certification, and regulatory compliance.  Janet holds a M.S. in Environmental Science from UTSA and a B.S. in Food Science from Texas A&M University. She lives with her husband in Boerne, Texas and enjoys gardening and international travel.
